Peer Review Process

Peer Review Policy

The Journal of Mental Health Promotion follows a double-blind peer review policy. Under this review model, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.

Accordingly, authors must ensure that their submitted manuscripts do not contain any information that could reveal their identity.

Manuscript Review Process

1. Registration

Before submitting a manuscript, authors must register as new users in the journal's online submission system by providing their personal and institutional information.

2. Manuscript Submission

After logging into the submission system using their username and password, authors may access their Author Dashboard and select "Submit a New Manuscript."

Authors should complete all required submission information and upload the manuscript through the online system.

At the time of submission, authors are required to upload the following documents:

  • Author Declaration Form
  • Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form
  • Similarity (Plagiarism) Report

These forms are available under the Journal Forms section of the journal website.

3. Initial Editorial Assessment

At this stage, the manuscript is evaluated by the Editorial Office to determine whether it:

  • Falls within the journal's scope;
  • Complies with the journal's aims and editorial policies;
  • Meets the journal's formatting requirements; and
  • Passes the similarity (plagiarism) screening.

Only manuscripts that satisfy these requirements will proceed to peer review.

The initial editorial screening normally takes up to two weeks.

4. Peer Review

Each manuscript is normally evaluated by at least two independent expert reviewers.

Reviewers assess the manuscript for its scientific quality, originality, methodological rigor, and scholarly contribution, and provide detailed recommendations.

If one reviewer recommends major revision while the other recommends rejection, the manuscript will be referred to a third reviewer.

  • If the third reviewer recommends revision, the manuscript will be forwarded to the Editorial Board for a final editorial decision.
  • If the third reviewer recommends rejection, the manuscript will be rejected and removed from the review process.

The peer-review stage generally requires at least one month.

5. Editorial Decision (Acceptance or Rejection)

Following receipt of the reviewers' reports, the Editorial Board will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept;
  • Minor Revision;
  • Major Revision; or
  • Reject.

If the manuscript is rejected, the corresponding author will receive a formal rejection letter and the review process will be concluded.

If revisions are requested, the reviewers' comments will be sent to the corresponding author. The revised manuscript will be re-evaluated to determine whether the reviewers' concerns have been adequately addressed.

Depending on the revised submission, the manuscript may be accepted, undergo further revision, or be rejected.

6. Final Revision and Copyediting

At this stage, the corresponding author must:

  • Revise the manuscript according to the reviewers' and editors' comments;
  • Update all author information within both the manuscript and the online submission system, if required; and
  • Upload the revised files through the journal's submission system.

7. Acceptance and Publication

Once all requested revisions have been satisfactorily completed and the manuscript receives final approval from the Editorial Board, it will be formally accepted for publication and scheduled for publication in the Journal of Mental Health Promotion.
